Style It Up with Optically.co
I am a typical Montauk girl and I will always be one. I have spent all my summers by the sea, eating lobsters and helping the tourists visit the lighthouse. My mom used to call me a sun baby. I loved the sun as a kid. I would wear my tiny hat, my tiny swimsuit, my pink sunglasses and spend all my afternoons on the beach. Oh! How I miss all that. But, sometimes, you have to leave behind the places you love the most and explore new places to build a better life for yourself. Last year I had to do the same. I shifted to Brooklyn to pursue my dream of becoming a model. Not an easy dream to pursue, I know. There are millions of girls all over the world with the same dream and I guess, most of them are in New York I rented a studio apartment in Brooklyn and began my hunt for a job. I was blessed to have known a few people out here. After two months of struggle and living off of mom’s money I finally got an internship in Elle magazine as a jewellery and accessories intern. Life was good but not that good. I used to travel for 2 hours everyday from Brooklyn to 57th street. But, it was an experience of a lifetime. The day I completed my internship my editor friend Cynthia told me to get my modeling portfolio done so that she could sent it across to people and get me some work. That was really sweet of her but, what wasn’t sweet was the money involved in creating one of these portfolio’s. Wherever I asked it was more than $500 dollars. The good ones of course, and now I was in a soup. Getting a portfolio done seemed impossible but, something I needed to do the most. So, I started hunting for all the affordable clothes and accessories that I could find for this photoshoot. I gatecrashed almost all the thrift shops in Brooklyn to find dresses, shoes and accessories that would work for me. A week later I had a pretty cool collection of stuff that could make up a good portfolio. But, there was this one thing I desperately needed for an outdoor session - a pair of sexy sunglasses. The thrift shops did have some but, the girl in me kept reminding me of the love I had for them as a kid. It had been a year I hadn’t worn or bought new sunglasses for myself. So with all my guts I decided to invest in a good pair. Off course buying one from the high streets was something I couldn’t do then and hence I started search for an affordable option. After a bit of a research I came across this website - https://www.optically.co
